The autoweir structure identifies all cell faces (not nodestrings) in the model domain that are elevated above the adjacent cells. These cell faces are then assigned a weir flow condition. This is a handy option, especially if your model application is largely overland floodplain (or similar).

 

Simply, the syntax for applying the autoweir option to a model simulation is as follows:

 

Structure == autoweir

End structure

 

That’s it. There is one extra command line if some adjustments are preferred:

 

Structure == autoweir

Properties == 0.1, 1.6

End structure

 

If you include the “properties” command line, the first number (P1) is the threshold elevation difference, where the autoweir is activated when the minimum of the face vertices elevations are P1 higher than the adjacent cell elevations. The default is 0.1 m (or ft if using English units). P2 is the weir coefficient, default = 1.6.
